How did it come to be this way? How
did this all begin? Is there really someone left to
remember? At least in the halls of the so called
"Schools of Sorcery" where they claim they
ammass every tiny bit of knowledge available to mortal
mind to know... and they say even beyond that limit
too... but do even they know it? How even their very
power of magic came to us? Was it the first gift man
took for itself? Or did it come first the ability to
shape objects to obey our will? The gift they call
"Science" or "Technology" these
days? Both these skills are so greatly studied and
known to mankind now that's nigh impossible to tell
which was born fist. These days you can see the trains
of the magnetic monorail dare our skies with but a low
"humm" from their spell powered engines,
flaring past you with a display of multicolored lights
that would make a blind man drop his jaw in
astonishment. Magic and Physic were explored to every
extent, unlocking their secrets one by one until they
served man in every aspect of his life... When was
this absolute reign of knowledge conquered? It must
have been so far in the past that nobody really
remembers... Nobody remembers if magic was brought as
an astonishing surprise in a technologically advanced
world or if it was the other way around... or if they
both grew together in armony or conflict... Nobody
really cares, these days... Most of us are just happy
using their rune etched steak knife to easily cut
through their meal as they watch Channel 666 prime
time broadcasting in their 16'' flat screen TV to
learn the "Black Magic Trick" of the day...
It doesn't matter where Magic or Science did come from,
now it's enough for everybody to know that they are
both here to make their life easier... or are they
just serving Those Men get more money?...
Who? It should be obvious that when a society has such
rich resounces to exploit, somebody does just that:
exploit them to make profit out of such possibility...
Men with power gathered knowledge and began selling it
at a high price and probably soon they were so much
indispensable to those who held the reins of the
government that they soon escaped any kind of law and
restriction, becoming free of doing as they pleased in
exchange for the powerful kwoledge they held... It's
anybody's guess that those who truly decide how things
are going to be done are the Corporations and not our
confused and frustrated "Administration"...
Corporations run rampant these days, trying to pile up
yet more and more money every second of their uncaring
rule... People usually despise those folks, but they
don't get a choice, unless they want to go scavenging
for food in Her streets and try Her
patience and good heart.... Money floods in
Corporative Pockets and everybody else is left
little... if anything at all... Unless you are... A
Priest...
When you see car lift in the air with but a blink of
an eye or the scyscrapers loom down on you from their
500 floors, you in the end stumble in the thought that
maybe somebody bigger than you (and them) had
to make all this possible... and perhaps other
men believe the same as you... So it's little surprise
that churces and clerical organizations fill our
streets too... However, although Spiritual Magic is a
proven fact and can achieve heights as great as (and
some say even greater) Black Magic and Science, no God
nor Angel (and nor Demon, for what matters...) as ever
showed up to prove its existence, so every faith had
to keep arguing about principles and reasons while
corporations grew stronger and richer... In the end
spiritual matter couldn't keep the pace of good old
money... and churches became a sort of
"hobby" although their priest could call
down lighting from the sky to strike the infidels...
You see... even infidels are Customers... and frying a
customer it's just not what puts a Corporation in a
good mood... So faith had to comply...
It was later discovered that spiritual energy could be
channeled by any man strong enough to will it into
exinstence and, although faith in a superior being
helped a man focus his inner strength, it wasn't
absolutely necessary to accomplish the feat... But
this didn't prevent people from clinging to their last
bit of freedom... Freedom to be right although
they were poor... So churches survived
gathering the power from what the wastes Corporative
rule left: Anger, Frustration, Desperation and even
Hope...
Alas, not many are interested on how it started
nowdays... They seem more bent on gleaning how it will
End... because they think it will be a much
more useful piece of information to prepare for what's
to come... And seeing how things are going... I
wouldn't call them fools... |
